The Rhetorik of Climate Delay
I illustrated and art directed this story in collaboration with the Science Desk at Süddeutsche Zeitung. It explores the rhetoric of climate delay—the common excuses people use to justify inaction on climate change. To bring the topic to life, I created a series of animated comics featuring everyday characters voicing familiar arguments. The humorous, exaggerated style makes the subject more accessible and helps readers recognize these patterns in real life. Based on academic research, the story groups twelve delay arguments into four categories, with expert commentary explaining why they’re so persuasive—and how to counter them. This project was awarded both a Bronze Medal and an Award of Excellence by the Society for News Design.
